- The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? - You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
- “Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord. - Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always. - Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans. - Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him. - The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands. - For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God? - Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. - Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God.
Do not forget the helpless. - Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the Lord. - This is what the Lord says to Israel: “Seek me and live.”
- In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. - Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord,
and humility comes before honor. - Look to the Lord and his strength;
seek his face always. - The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him. - ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will not be angry forever.’ - Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near. - For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God? - Save me, Lord,
from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? - Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name. - The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts. - The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.
- You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does.Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
