Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord rather than relying on your own intelligence. In everything you do, acknowledge him, and he will see that your paths are straight. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you. Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your father, and do not run to your brother’s house when troubles befall you; far better is a friend nearby than a brother who is far away. Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye?

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
