- Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze on what lies before you. - As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts above your thoughts. - For your kindness extends to the heavens;
your faithfulness, to the skies. - Observe your father’s command, my son,
and do not reject your mother’s teaching. - Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You place your trust in God.
Trust also in me. - Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares about you.
- Do not pride yourself on your own wisdom;
fear the Lord and turn your back on evil.
This will provide healing for your flesh
and restore strength to your body. - Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your crops. - Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name give glory
because of your kindness and faithfulness. - Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not treat them harshly.
- Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? You have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.
- For you know that the testing of your faith will develop perseverance.
- But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there.
- As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
- This is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’ - But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Your almsgiving must be done in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
- Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the prophets of that time proclaimed. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Forsake your evil ways and your evil deeds. But they refused to listen or to pay attention to me, says the Lord.
- And whenever you stand in prayer, forgive whatever grievance you have against anybody, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your wrongs too.
- Entrust everything that you do to the Lord,
and your plans will turn out to be successful. - Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight. - Be strong and courageous in your hearts,
all you who place your hope in the Lord. - Commit your way to the Lord;
place your trust in him, and he will act.
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause, like the noonday. - And so now, O Israel, what does the Lord, your God, require of you but to fear the Lord, your God, to walk in all of his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and to observe the commandments and the statutes that I am giving you today for your own good.
- Ensure that the path you tread is level,
and then your ways will be sure.
