- For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. - My son, obey your father’s commands,
and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. - For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. - That is why I can never stop praising you;
I declare your glory all day long. - Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
- You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.
- Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones. - Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you. - But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven. - The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. - Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. - Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
- But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
- So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!
- Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws;
our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. - Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
- Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce. - Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
on a firm footing. - But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
