| But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? | If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him? |
| That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. | All I want is to come to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share in his sufferings by becoming conformed to his death. |

| For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. | For I resolved that, while I was with you, I would know nothing except Jesus Christ—and him crucified. |

| Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. | The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. |
| Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. | Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you. |
| And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. | And where a single man can be overcome, two together will be able to resist. A cord with three strands is not easily broken. |
| For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. | For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him. |
| But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. | Take heed to follow the commandments and the laws that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you: to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in his ways and to observe his commandments, holding fast to him and serving him with all your heart and all your soul. |
| Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. | To him who in all things is able through the power that is at work within us to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, forever and ever. Amen. |
| Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. | Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” |

| Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. | Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me. |
| And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. | And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask him, we may be sure that all we ask of him will be ours. |
| For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. | For: “If anyone wishes to love life and to experience good days, he must restrain his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.” |
| A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. | A man’s pride will bring him low, but lowly souls will rise to honor. |
| Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. | If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. | Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. | Then Jesus said to him, “You have come to believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” |
| And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. | This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. |
| The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. | The father of a good man will rejoice; he who begets a wise son will delight in him. |
| He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. | Anyone who has received my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him. |
| Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. | When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways. |
| If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. | If we claim that we have fellowship with him while we continue to live in darkness, we are lying and do not live in the truth. |
