- When you look at the tassels, you will remember the commandments of the Lord and keep them. Thus you will not prostitute yourselves by following after the lusts in your own heart or your own eyes.
- After Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judea during the reign of King Herod, wise men traveled from the east and arrived in Jerusalem, inquiring, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw the rising of his star, and we have come to pay him homage.”

and receives favor from the Lord. - When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings,
and in times of adversity consider this:
God has made both of them,
so that we cannot predict with confidence
what the future holds. - There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd
lays down his life for the sheep. - The reward of humility and fear of the Lord
is wealth, honor, and life. - Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall also be united with him in his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
- No one can have greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends. - Listen, my son, and take my words to heart,
and the years of your life will be multiplied. - He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
- No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a pot or places it under a bed. Rather he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
- A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but an undisciplined tongue crushes the spirit. - Hope deferred sickens the heart,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. - For this reason, he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who have been called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since his death has served to redeem the sins that were committed under the first covenant.
- A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life;
a poor man never has to worry about such threats. - While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come.
- Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before.
- Guard your heart with all possible vigilance,
for from it flow the wellsprings of life. - Therefore, heed my words. Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body and what you will wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- As a deer longs for running streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God. - Whoever heeds admonition is on the path to life,
but anyone who rejects correction goes astray. - Blessed be the Lord, day after day,
the God of our salvation, who carries our burden. Selah
