Man (3/4)

He answered, “Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh’? So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

He then fed you with manna, something with which your fathers were not familiar, so that you might come to know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the Lord.
Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.Behold, we are now going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised to life.
One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. One person may consider one day to be more sacred than another, while another may judge all days to be alike. Let everyone be convinced in his own beliefs.
It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment. The future bodes well for him who is generous in helping those in need and who conducts his affairs with justice.
A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.The prudent man perceives danger and seeks shelter, while the simple continue forward and pay the penalty.
So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?”Therefore, we can say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.Blessed is the man whom God reproves. Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.
God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?” He said to them, “Did you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry—he, and those who were with him? How he entered into God’s house at the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?” He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”One day, as Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the Sabbath, his disciples began to pick some heads of grain as they walked along. The Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are your disciples doing what is forbidden on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the sacred bread that only the priests were permitted to eat, and he shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother.
With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect. To the loyal, you show yourself to be loyal; to the blameless, you show yourself to be blameless.
Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint.Like a city that has been breached and made defenseless is the man devoid of self-control.
But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or how tall he stands, for the Lord has rejected him. He does not see the way that men see, for men look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them. The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them.
Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator.Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.It is rash to pledge a sacred gift, or to make a vow and then have second thoughts.
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. No prophecy ever came from human initiative. Rather, when people spoke as messengers of God, they did so under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the man.”Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.”
