| With my soul I have desired you in the night. | For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. | For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them. | For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render. |
| Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. | Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. |
| It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. | It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals. |
| God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him. | May God continue to bless us and be revered to the ends of the earth. |
| He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God. | And the one who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. |
| A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. | A gift opens doors for the giver and wins him access to the powerful. |

| The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. | The fear of others will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. |
| Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. | A man’s ways may seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart. |
| With all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints. | In all of your prayers and entreaties, pray always in the Spirit. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. |
| So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone. | As a result, you are no longer strangers and foreigners. Rather, you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. |
| Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. | Two are better than one: they earn a far greater reward for their toil. |
| Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. | Because the sentence for committing an evil act is not carried out quickly, people’s hearts are prone to act wickedly. |
| He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him. | He was despised and shunned by others, a man of sorrows who was no stranger to suffering. We loathed him and regarded him as of no account, as one from whom men avert their gaze. |
