| A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. | In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. |
| Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established. | Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. |

| There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. | Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. |

| Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Execute true justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart Against his brother.’ | This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’ |
| O Lord, You are my God.
