- Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
- Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity. - Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon. - My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.
- In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps. - Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God. - Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
- For he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things. - Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
- For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth.
- How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word. - All my longings lie open before you, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor. - Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops. - Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
- I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. - For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
- If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction,
even their prayers are detestable. - Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path. - I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
- And, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
