The one (2/4)

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.
Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me.”
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass.
