Chinese (traditional)- In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, Lord,
make me dwell in safety. - As goods increase,
so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
except to feast their eyes on them? - Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones. - The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
- I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue. - If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
- Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
- Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
- For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
- You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you. - Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor. - Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy. - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. - Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me. - For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
- Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread. - Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
- Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
- Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him! - May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.
- We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
- I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’ - I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.Next verse!With image
