The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)
