He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. | It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. |

All that time I had eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed. | I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed. |
I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. | We have sinned, we have done wrong, and acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. |
Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand.
