- O Israel, my faithless people,
come home to me again,
for I am merciful.
I will not be angry with you forever. - And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins. - But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
- Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight! - When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
- For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
- “Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.” - Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.
- So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.
- Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean! - Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
- Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.” - And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.”
- In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
- He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.
- When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.
