And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
He covets greedily all day long, But the righteous gives and does not spare.He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase.Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand.As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease!Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints.But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.
For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
