Jesus (4/8)

  • Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
  • He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
    Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
  • Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
  • You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
  • Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.
  • If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
  • Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
  • But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
  • While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
  • I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.
  • I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
  • To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.
  • Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.
  • For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
  • You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
  • I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
  • Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
  • God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
  • Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
  • That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
  • And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

Bible verse of the day

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.
