Jesus (3/8)

  • And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
  • But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
  • If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.
  • We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.
  • Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
  • For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.
  • Who is it who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
  • I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.
  • And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.”
  • If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
  • Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
  • You know that you were ransomed from the futile conduct inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.
  • You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
  • Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
  • You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for that is what I am.
  • This Jesus is
    ‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders;
    it has become the cornerstone.’
  • I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
  • While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!”
  • To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
  • I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
  • If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.
  • I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them and I in them.
  • And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
  • So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
  • Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.

But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience as an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.
