- Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
- When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings,
and in times of adversity consider this:
God has made both of them,
so that we cannot predict with confidence
what the future holds. - I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God.
- I rejoice in following your statutes

then my heart will be glad. - The precepts of the Lord are right,
causing the heart to rejoice.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
giving light to the eyes. - Nevertheless, do not rejoice in the knowledge that the spirits are subject to you. Rejoice rather that your names are inscribed in heaven.
- But for you who fear my name
the sun of justice will arise
with its healing rays.
You will emerge leaping
like calves released from the stall. - Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,
but those who counsel peace have joy. - Remember your Creator in the days of your youth
before the bad times come
and the years draw near when you will say,
“I take no pleasure in them”. - In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
- The hope of the righteous brings them joy,
but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. - In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
- Moreover, the one to whom God grants wealth and possessions and the ability to enjoy them and to find contentment in his toil receives a gift from God.
- The vine has withered;
the fig tree droops.
The pomegranate, the palm, and the apple tree—
all the trees of the field have dried up.
And the joy of the people
has also withered away. - A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son gives grief to his mother.
