- You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever. - Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
- I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
- Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
- Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death. - People with integrity walk safely,
but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. - So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
- All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
- And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
- Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
- So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
- So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
- Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
- Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
- Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.
- I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
- We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.
- That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.
- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
