Bible Verses about Materialism

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; Nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This also is vanity.Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble.Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand.Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Remove falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches— Feed me with the food allotted to me.Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale.
