| And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. | Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. |
| Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. | A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. |

| House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord. | Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. |
| And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. | The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” |
| Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. | But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. |
