- A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. - I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches. - Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered. - Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted. - Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
- An honest witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies. - Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
- All this also comes from the Lord Almighty,
whose plan is wonderful,
whose wisdom is magnificent. - May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
- God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. - Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. - I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
- Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children.
- The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
- When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought me joy. - But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
- Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. - The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge. - My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
- I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman. - Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
- That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,’ declares the Lord,
‘I will not be angry forever.’ - He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.
Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.Keep my commands and follow them. I am the Lord. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Next verse!With image
