- Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
And whoever spreads slander is a fool. - Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field is counted as a forest. - Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
- He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds. - Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,
But he who gathers by labor will increase. - Without counsel, plans go awry,
But in the multitude of counselors they are established. - For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
- And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
- As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him;
He is excellent in power,
In judgment and abundant justice;
He does not oppress. - Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
- With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless. - A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
- As iron sharpens iron,
So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
He brings low and lifts up. - For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.
- In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul. - Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
- But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
- While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”
- Let my teaching drop as the rain,
My speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb,
And as showers on the grass. - How much better to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. - Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.
- Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance.
