- God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. - And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
- Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
- Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to selfish gain! - Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad. - For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
- You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
- But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him” - Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body. - A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. - Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free. - Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwelling places.
- Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
- Your testimonies are my heritage forever,
for they are the joy of my heart. - And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
- For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
- By insolence comes nothing but strife,
but with those who take advice is wisdom. - With the merciful you show yourself merciful;
with the blameless man you show yourself blameless. - For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
- With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor,
but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. - The Lord is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
he knows those who take refuge in him. - A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
and favor is better than silver or gold.
