- I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he set me free from all my fears. - With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor,
but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered. - He sent forth his word and healed them,
saving them from the grave. - Because I delivered the poor who appealed for help
and the orphan who had no one to protect him.
The blessing of the wretched was given to me,
and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. - He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day.
- He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him?
- He has rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
- For I handed on to you as of primary importance what I received: that Christ died for our sins, in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried and that he was raised to life on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
- When I sing to you, my lips will rejoice,
and so will my soul, which you have redeemed. - Behold, we are now going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised to life.

It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior,
one who controls his temper rather than one who captures a city.
