I will sing to the Lord
because he has been good to me. - A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
- Guard your heart with all possible vigilance,
for from it flow the wellsprings of life. - And so you should put to death everything in your nature that is earthly: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desires, and greed (which is idolatry).

My God is my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold. - My son, concentrate attentively on my words;
pay heed to the instructions I pass on to you.
Do not let them slip from your mind;
keep them forever in your heart. - When you search for me, you will find me. When you seek me with all your heart.
- Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may advance on the path to salvation.
- Blessed are those who observe his statutes
and seek him with their whole heart.
