Father (2/4)

  • But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that the fact that you are fasting will not be obvious to others but only to your Father who is hidden. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
  • Fear not, little flock, for your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.
  • Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Take this cup from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.
  • He cried out, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And with these words he breathed his last.
  • Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you.
  • Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
  • For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh.
  • Do you suppose that I cannot appeal to my Father for help and he will not immediately send me more than twelve legions of angels?
  • And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
  • Do not love the world
or what is in the world.
If anyone does love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
  • If anyone wishes to serve me,
    he must follow me.
    Where I am,
there also will my servant be.
    If anyone serves me,
my Father will honor that person.
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercy and the God of all consolation. He consoles us in all our afflictions and thereby enables us to console others in their tribulations, offering them the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.
  • Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my heavenly Father.
  • To anyone who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself overcame and sat with my Father on his throne.
  • Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.”
  • I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him.
  • Blessed be the God,
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens.
  • This is how you should pray:
    ‘Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • And whenever you stand in prayer, forgive whatever grievance you have against anybody, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your wrongs too.
  • For you did not receive a spirit of slavery leading to fear; rather, you received the Spirit of adoption, enabling us to cry out, “Abba! Father!”
  • Exalted at God’s right hand, he received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
  • However, the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
    will teach you everything
    and remind you of all
that I have said to you.
  • Every good act of giving and every perfect gift are from above, coming down from the Father of all light. With him there is no alteration or shadow caused by change.
  • If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
  • Amen, amen, I say to you,
the one who believes in me
will also do the works that I do,
and indeed will do even greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.

Gaze upon the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or store in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of far greater value than they?
