- Protect me, O God,
for in you I take refuge. - But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
- O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me;
may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever. - Such hope will not be doomed to disappointment, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
- My life is in your hands;
deliver me from the power of my enemies,
from the clutches of those who pursue me. - In my distress I called out to the Lord;
he answered by setting me free. - You are truly my rock and my fortress;
for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. - For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
- Have mercy on me, O God,
in accord with your kindness;
in your abundant compassion
wipe away my offenses.
Wash me completely from my guilt,
and cleanse me from my sin. - The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall lack.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me to tranquil streams. - And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.”
- And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
- I am the Lord, your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You know no God but me,
nor any savior other than me. - I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever abides in me, and I in him,
will bear much fruit.
Apart from me you can do nothing. - Even if an army encamps against me,
my heart will not succumb to fear;
even if war breaks out against me,
I will not have my trust shaken. - Jesus answered them,
“I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” - O Lord, you have examined me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I stand;
you perceive my thoughts from a distance. - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
so that I may walk in your truth;
let me worship your name
with an undivided heart. - At dawn let me experience your kindness,
for in you I place my trust.
Show me the path I must walk,
for to you I lift up my soul. - You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’
and rightly so,
for that is what I am. - Let the word of Christ with all its richness dwell in you. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts.
- The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
- Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
