Forgiveness (2/2)

  • Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.
  • But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
  • Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
  • But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
  • God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.
  • O Israel, my faithless people,
    come home to me again,
    for I am merciful.
I will not be angry with you forever.
  • And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins.
  • But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!
  • Oh, what joy for those
    whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
  • When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.”
  • “Come now, let’s settle this,”
    says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.”
  • Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.
  • So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven.
  • Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
  • Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
  • Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
    Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.”
  • When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.
