Bible Verses about 'Forgiveness'

  • In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
  • For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
  • Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
  • In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
  • Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
  • Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,
but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.
  • Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
  • For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
  • Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
  • If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
  • Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

abounding in love to all who call to you.

  • Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
    but delight to show mercy.
  • If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.
  • For the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.
  • Let the wicked forsake their ways
    and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
  • He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
  • Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
  • And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
  • Rend your heart
    and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity.
  • Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
