Gift of life (3/4)

Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life. This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us; for this is our lot.
I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.
I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won’t even get threatened.Wealth is a ransom for a person's life, but the poor get no threats.
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.
But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanctification. The end is eternal life.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace.

So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.So that, just as sin exercised dominion in death, so grace might also exercise dominion through justification leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
