| If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains. | Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. | But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. |
| I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. | So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? |
| If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. | Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. |
