- For you, O God, have put us to the test;
you have purified us as silver is refined. - My soul thirsts for God, the living God.
When shall I come to behold the face of God? - God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God. - As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. - As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit descended upon them just as it had upon us at the beginning.
- Whoever does not love
does not know God,
because God is love. - May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us.
- And take the helmet of salvation as well as the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
- Therefore, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God, since those who enter into God’s rest also cease from their own labors as God did from his.
- For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.” - I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing.
- We have come to know
and to believe in
the love that God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever abides in love
abides in God,
and God in him. - Let us then make every effort to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall by following that example of refusing to believe.
- Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
- Indeed, who is God except the Lord?
Who is the Rock besides our God? - As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone.
- Seek good and not evil,
so that you may live.
Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you
as you claim he is. - For who is God except the Lord?
Who is a rock aside from our God? - Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.
Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. - Come now and let us discuss this,
says the Lord.
Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be like snow.
Though they are as red as crimson,
they shall become as white as wool. - Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
- Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. - As sorrowful, and yet we are always rejoicing; as poor, and yet we make many rich; as having nothing, and yet we possess everything.
- And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told.
- Each person should give as much as he has decided in his heart, not with reluctance or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
I rejoice in following your statutes
more than I would rejoice in endless riches. And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
