- I rejoice in following your statutes
more than I would rejoice in endless riches. - In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - How great you are, Lord God! There is no one like you, and there is no God except you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.
- The Lord God is my strength;
he makes my feet as swift as those of a deer
and enables me to tread on the heights. - How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God.
- Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship.
- And forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors. - For nothing will be impossible for God.
- This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. - In it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning in faith and established in faith. As it is written: “The one who is righteous will live through faith.”
- Rather, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
- For there is one God,
and there is one mediator between God and man,
Christ Jesus, himself a man. - The Lord commanded us to observe all of these statutes and to fear the Lord, our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, even as we are today.
- Thereupon the Lord restored the prosperity of Job after he had prayed for his friends, and he enriched him with twice as much as he had possessed before.
- Although it was our afflictions that he bore,
our sufferings that he endured,
we thought of him as stricken,
as struck down by God and afflicted. - In God, whose word I praise,
in God I place my trust and know no fear;
what can people do to me? - The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
- For as it is written,
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
nor has the human heart imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.” - Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
the Creator of all. - And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- Protect me, O God,
for in you I take refuge. - Therefore, strive to be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.
- This is my commandment:
love one another
as I have loved you. - My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a contrite and humble heart, O God,
you will not spurn. - For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render.
