- I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living. - For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
- Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

For they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. - O my soul, you have said to the Lord,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.” - But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
- And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
- Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
- The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him. - Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
- The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works. - Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
- All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
- And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
- Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
- As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.
- Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. - For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,
And Your truth unto the clouds. - What is desired in a man is kindness,
And a poor man is better than a liar. - Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
- And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?
- Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it. - Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
- The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime,
And in the night His song shall be with me—
A prayer to the God of my life. - Thus says the Lord:
“Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” - Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
- Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
Equity and every good path. - You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your right hand has held me up,
Your gentleness has made me great.
You enlarged my path under me,
So my feet did not slip. - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
- But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
- Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
- In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
- Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
- With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless. - Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
