Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. | Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. |
Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. | Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. |
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. | Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. |
Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. | Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. |
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. | Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. |
He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber. | He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. |
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. | The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. |
