- The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. - Honesty guides good people;
dishonesty destroys treacherous people. - As a face is reflected in water,
so the heart reflects the real person. - “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
- Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other.
- I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;

and conduct their business fairly. - I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

- Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money! - People may be right in their own eyes,
but the Lord examines their heart. - This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
- God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God. - Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life. - The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. - The words of the godly are like sterling silver;
the heart of a fool is worthless. - Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands. - Your laws are my treasure;
they are my heart’s delight. - Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
I will remain confident. - As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should! - The commandments of the Lord are right,
bringing joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are clear,
giving insight for living.
