God is not human, that he should lie, or the son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act, does he promise and then not fulfill it? | God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? |
Our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases. | But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. |

Seek the Lord while he still may be found; call to him when he is close at hand. | Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. |
The Lord makes poor and makes rich, he humbles and he also exalts. | The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. |
Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up to heaven. | And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. |
He will not permit your foot to stumble; he who guards you will not fall asleep. | He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. |
He must increase; I must decrease. | He must increase, but I must decrease. |
All those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And the proof that he abides in us is the Spirit that he has given us. | And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. |
Therefore, we love because he first loved us. | We love him, because he first loved us. |
And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. |
He proclaimed his covenant to you which he ordered you to fulfill, the Ten Commandments, that he wrote upon two tablets of stone. | And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. |
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.” | And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. |
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he set me free from all my fears. | I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. |
This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. | Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. |
Entrust your cares to the Lord, and he will uphold you; he will never allow the righteous to waver. | Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. |
He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” | And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. |
After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. | And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. |
When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. | When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. |
God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them. | So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. |
He is the head of the body, that is, the Church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that in every way he should be supreme. | And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. |

He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day. | He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. |
If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married. | When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken. |
