- God is not human, that he should lie,
or the son of man, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act,
does he promise and then not fulfill it? - Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever he pleases. - Seek the Lord while he still may be found;
call to him when he is close at hand. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich,
he humbles and he also exalts. - Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up to heaven.
- He will not permit your foot to stumble;
he who guards you will not fall asleep. - He must increase;
I must decrease. - All those who keep his commandments abide in him,
and he abides in them.
And the proof that he abides in us
is the Spirit that he has given us. - Therefore, we love because he first loved us.
- And when he comes,
he will prove the world wrong
about sin and righteousness and judgment. - He proclaimed his covenant to you which he ordered you to fulfill, the Ten Commandments, that he wrote upon two tablets of stone.
- But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.”
- I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he set me free from all my fears. - This is how we can be certain
that we abide in him
and that he abides in us:
he has given us a share in his Spirit. - Entrust your cares to the Lord,
and he will uphold you;
he will never allow the righteous to waver. - He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
- After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
- When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- God created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
- He is the head of the body,
that is, the Church.
He is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead,
so that in every way
he should be supreme. - May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us.
- He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day.
- If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
- He has satisfied the thirsty
and filled the hungry with good things.
He reveals deep and hidden mysteries
and knows what lies in the darkness,
for light dwells with him.But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
