- When the Advocate comes
whom I will send you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father,
he will testify on my behalf. - Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth:
it is better for you that I depart.
For if I do not go away,
the Advocate will not come to you,
whereas if I go,
I will send him to you. - And when he comes,
he will prove the world wrong
about sin and righteousness and judgment. - Until now, in my name,
you have not asked for anything.
Ask and you will receive,
so that your joy may be complete. - I came from the Father
and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world
and returning to the Father. - I have told you this
so that in me you may be in peace.
In the world
you will endure suffering.
But take courage!
I have overcome the world. - And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and the one you have sent,
Jesus Christ. - I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one. - Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went inside, and he saw and believed. They still did not understand the Scripture indicating that he must rise from the dead.
- Jesus then said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
- “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again.
“As the Father has sent me,
so I send you.” - Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - Through him all things came into existence,
and without him there was nothing.
That which came to be. - The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has been unable to overcome it. - However, to those who did accept him
and who believed in his name
he granted the power to become children of God. - And the Word became flesh
and dwelt among us.
And we saw his glory,
the glory as of the Father’s only Son,
full of grace and truth. - No one has ever seen God.
It is the only Son, God,
who is at the Father’s side,
who has made him known. - I myself did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest
is the one who is to baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ - Jesus replied,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can see the kingdom of God
without being born from above.” - Jesus said,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can enter the kingdom of God
unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” - What is born of the flesh is flesh,
and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.
For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life.Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts:
he is the King of glory. Selah Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercy and the God of all consolation. He consoles us in all our afflictions and thereby enables us to console others in their tribulations, offering them the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.Next verse! With image
