John 4:18 (2/4)

  • And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
  • I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.
  • I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.
  • So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
  • Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
  • Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
  • There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
  • Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
  • If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!
  • Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
  • I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
  • You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
  • If you love me, obey my commandments.
  • And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
  • No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.
  • Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
  • Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”
  • But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
  • I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
  • I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
  • You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
  • Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
  • But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
  • When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
  • When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
