Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.In the day of prosperity be joyful, But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other, So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.
Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
