- For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - The Lord is slow to anger but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.
His way is in the whirlwind and the storm,
and clouds are the dust of his feet. - The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
- Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe. - So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth. - Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
- Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior. - Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all. - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. - But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high. - The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
- And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
- Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. - One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple. - Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. - Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
- The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
- The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!” - Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things. - I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
