- Happy is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways. - Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers. - Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died through the one man's trespass, much more surely have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abounded for the many.
- Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
- When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any related duty. He shall be free at home one year, to be happy with the wife whom he has married.
- God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
and makes me tread upon the heights. - But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.
- But because of cases of sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
- For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
- Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools suffers harm. - Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.
- A highway shall be there,
and it shall be called the Holy Way;
the unclean shall not travel on it,
but it shall be for God's people;
no traveler, not even fools, shall go astray. - Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
- You must follow exactly the path that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you are to possess.
- See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
- So, if they say to you, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look! He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
- But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.
- Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you; by this Jesus everyone who believes is set free from all those sins from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
- I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
- And the Lord God made garments of skins for the man and for his wife, and clothed them.
- The Lord your God you shall follow, him alone you shall fear, his commandments you shall keep, his voice you shall obey, him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast.
- What are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them? - Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.
- He was despised and rejected by others;
a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity;
and as one from whom others hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him of no account.
