- Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
- Then the Lord God said, “See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
- For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human.
- I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
- Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out. - What are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them? - If you follow my statutes and keep my commandments and observe them faithfully, I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
- Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.
- Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.
- One sabbath he was going through the grainfields; and as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need of food? He entered the house of God, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and he gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
- What is desirable in a person is loyalty,
and it is better to be poor than a liar. - God is not a human being, that he should lie,
or a mortal, that he should change his mind.
Has he promised, and will he not do it?
Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? - There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
- A fool's lips bring strife,
and a fool's mouth invites a flogging. - Just as water reflects the face,
so one human heart reflects another. - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to put confidence in mortals. - Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
- There is a way that seems right to a person,
but its end is the way to death. - The fear of others lays a snare,
but one who trusts in the Lord is secure. - Happy are those who find wisdom,
and those who get understanding. - This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble. - How can young people keep their way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. - Iron sharpens iron,
and one person sharpens the wits of another. - For they said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, indulging their own ungodly lusts.” It is these worldly people, devoid of the Spirit, who are causing divisions.
- For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life?
For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.
