- In my Father’s house
there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you
that I am going to prepare a place for you? - As sorrowful, and yet we are always rejoicing; as poor, and yet we make many rich; as having nothing, and yet we possess everything.

but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. - How can a young man lead a spotless life?
By living according to your word. - What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
- A perverse man sows strife,
and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships. - A wise man will heed commandments,
but a babbling fool will come to grief. - What then if you were to behold the Son of Man
ascend to where he was before? - The words of a wise man win favor,
but a fool’s tongue is his undoing. - There is a way that seems right to a man,
but the end of it leads to death. - One who gossips reveals secrets,
but a trustworthy man keeps things hidden. - When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words.
- Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. - For all of us fall short in many ways. Anyone who never makes a mistake in speech has reached perfection and is able to control every part of his body.
- Do not envy a violent man
or choose to emulate any of his ways.
For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord
whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. - However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
- A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him,
but humility comes before honors. - Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts. - The love of money is the root of all evils, and in their desire for it some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many serious wounds.
- The father of a good man will rejoice;
he who begets a wise son will delight in him. - A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
- Blessed is the man whom God reproves.
Therefore, do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. - Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your noble confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.
