- A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends. - There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death. - Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. - So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
- Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord weighs the hearts. - For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
- The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. - Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad. - Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.
- A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion. - It is honorable for a man to stop striving,
Since any fool can start a quarrel. - But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty,
And before honor is humility. - So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?” - The hand of the diligent will rule,
But the lazy man will be put to forced labor. - This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles. - A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself;
The simple pass on and are punished. - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
- So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
- Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
- Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
- His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
- And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
