You can eat any water creature that has fins and scales; those you can eat. Whatever does not have fins or scales, you are not to eat. A man’s ways may seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart. | Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. |
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him. | That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. |
May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you. | And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you. |
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. | Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. |
And now, dear children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming. | And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. |
What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer? | What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? |
Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners. | Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. |
You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time. | You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time. |
Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged. | Judge not, that you be not judged. |
May the God of peace—who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant— make you perfect in every respect so that you may do his will. And may he enable us to achieve what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. | Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. And whenever you stand in prayer, forgive whatever grievance you have against anybody, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your wrongs too. | And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. |
I have told you this so that in me you may be in peace. In the world you will endure suffering. But take courage! I have overcome the world. | These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. |
May God continue to bless us and be revered to the ends of the earth. | God shall bless us, And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him. |
Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul. | Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. |
The grass may wither and the flower may fade, but the word of our God will endure forever. | The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. |
Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. | My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. |
I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown. | Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. |
