- With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to put confidence in mortals. - He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”
- What are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them? - But Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”
- Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.”
- There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.
- If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I am not afraid;
what can flesh do to me? - In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.
- But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
“See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them as their God;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;
he will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.” - So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
What can anyone do to me?” - I, I am he who comforts you;
why then are you afraid of a mere mortal who must die,
a human being who fades like grass?
The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he not leave us or abandon us.
